伊莎贝尔·于佩尔 Isabelle Huppert 出生于一个典型的法国巴黎中产家庭，是家中五个孩子中最小的一个。13岁投身演艺事业。1968年，她参演了Versailles Conservatory一片，1971年出演了第一个电影角色：尼娜•康萍兹的《福斯汀与美丽的夏天》。1973年，在克洛德•苏台的电影《凯撒与罗莎丽》中扮演了罗密•施奈德的妹妹。 第二年，在贝特朗•布里叶伟大的作品《圆舞曲女郎》最后一幕中，与杰拉尔•德帕迪约合作，塑造了一个滑稽但又令人印象深刻的小角色。1970年代逐渐走红，成为享誉欧洲的女明星。1977年以《编织的女孩》打开国际知名度，翌年凭《维奥莱特•诺齐埃尔》获戛纳最佳女演员奖。 2001年因《钢琴教师》再度荣获戛纳影后奖。戏路宽广，非常多产，从天真型、性感型，到喜剧型，无所不包。把表演视作“发泄内心的疯狂”。 她曾与很多大导演合作过，其中有克劳德•夏布洛尔、迈克尔•西米诺(《猎鹿人》)等等。她在演艺生涯里获奖无数，1996年获得法国凯撒奖最佳女主角，2005年获得了柏林电影节最佳女主角以及威尼斯电影节终身成就奖，2009年特别艺术贡献奖。
